My work is mainly hand-built and I like to experiment with clay to see how far I can take it.

I explore the texture and contrast between rough and smooth. Inspiration comes from African and Asian pots - from beautifully decorated communal water pots to the impermanence of Indian chai cups.

I’m also fascinated by ancient vessels, buried for thousands of years, then un-earthed and discovered anew.

After finishing a career in vegetarian cookery, I started my ceramic journey and was selected for the Ceramic Development course at Forest Row School of Ceramics in Sussex. I’m now studying for an MA in Ceramics at Bath Spa University.

Ceramics for me is the nearest you get to creative cooking. I find that using my hands, the glaze recipes and the firing are all very similar.
